Bach's Blend
Coffee Bio:
Our 'Bach's Blend' is a flagship coffee we keep year round here and it's named after legendary composer Johann Sebastian Bach. Like many 'great minds' Bach had quite the coffee addiction, consuming up to 30 cups of coffee a day. He famously wrote Schweigt stille, plaudert nicht (aka 'The Coffee Cantata'); a satirical opera about a young woman's true love; coffee. The play depicts her expressing her joy of the beverage while her father attempts to rid her off of the 'evil' drink. Bach wrote this satirical piece in jest towards those who represented a vocal opposition to the new coffee culture at the time. Before coffee consumption became a standard in society, it was initially met with much pushback. Even the King of Prussia wildly made many attempts to try and outlaw the beverage.
