Additional Info:
While we typically always have a good selection of Central American coffees on our roster, this is actually our first time sourcing an offering from Mexico. We had some extra space to add a new coffee origin this year, and felt that this one will certainly be enjoyed by our customers.
This coffee comes to us from a remote region of Patlanalan in Puebla, Mexico. Patlanalan is one of the most remote communities in all of Puebla, which is surrounded by mountains and a famous lagoon. During harvest, producers use family labor for all their work. Patlanalan producers co-plant coffee with native shade trees such as banana and ice cream bean trees. The predominant coffee varietals grown in this area are Mundo Novo, Sarchimor, and Yellow Caturra.
In the cup you can expect an almost Cinnamon Raisin bagel like spice and sweetness up front. The body is very well rounded and there is a very pleasing tart quality towards the finish that provides for a very well balanced cup. This is a very versatile coffee that profiles equally well as filter or espresso and immersion.
